Both calcium stearate and zinc stearate are white powders from the appearance, and they are PVC stabilizers. However, there are many differences in their uses.
1. First, although calcium stearate and zinc stearate can be used as lubricants and stabilizers, calcium stearate is mostly used in a variety of plastic processing, while zinc stearate is mainly used in styrene resin, phenolic resin and amino resin;
2. Although both can be used as heat stabilizers for PVC, calcium stearate is mainly used in PVC, while zinc stearate is mainly used in PVC to inhibit the initial coloring and lubrication. There is no sulfide pollution, but the effect is limited. It needs to be used in combination with calcium soap, barium soap and other stabilizers;

3. Both calcium stearate and zinc stearate can be used as softeners in rubber processing, but calcium stearate can also be used as plasticizer, which will not affect the vulcanization effect of rubber on the basis of softening, while zinc stearate can be used as vulcanization activator and softener;
4. Calcium stearate has more extensive functions. It can not only improve the gel speed in hard products, but also be used as halogen absorbent in polyethylene and polypropylene to eliminate the influence of residual catalyst on color and stability. It can also be used as a lubricant for polyolefin fibers and molding compounds, a waterproof agent for textiles, a matting agent for paints, a thickening agent for lubricating grease, a plasticizer for making plastic records, and so on.
